Belotero
What is Belotero®?
Belotero is a dermal filler used to visibly reduce the signs of aging by smoothing out fine lines and deep wrinkles. Belotero® is also used by Dr. Jacono to help with adding volume to lips, to plump or add volume to the cheeks and the temples, and to give definition and contouring to the chin, and in some cases Belotero® is used for non-surgical rhinoplasty procedures.
Belotero® works as a series of injections that are placed under the skin at varying depths in layers to help smooth the area or add volume. Like all other dermal fillers, it is a non-toxic substance that is made with a hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that is naturally found within your skin already and is what makes your joints feel slippery. Its main purpose is to absorb water and act as a cushioning agent. This is how Belotero® is able to add volume to fill wrinkles and lines. When injected, it acts like a sponge and expands to fill in the deep lines and wrinkles giving them a smoother appearance. Belotero® also helps to induce the production of collagen which will further help to plump and firm your skin to help reduce wrinkles over time.
For most patients in Long Island, Belotero® results are seen immediately and generally last for 6 months or more. Dr. Jacono encourages patients to establish reoccurring treatments every 6 to 9 months in order to maintain a youthful and healthy facial rejuvenation.
What Make Belotero® Different than Other Dermal Fillers?
Belotero® is manufactured by Merz Aesthetic and considered to be one of the lightest dermal fillers available on the market today. Because of this, it is usually referred to as a starter filler and is great for patients who are just starting to develop a wrinkle treatment regimen to help slow down and in some cases, reverse the signs of aging.
There are several other dermal filler brands that are comparable to Belotero®. These include brands like Juvederm, Restylane, Sculptra, and Voluma. Each have a slightly different consistency and are also designed to be administered in layers are varying depths under the skin. As stated previously however, Belotero® is one of the lightest of the dermal fillers. Because it is so much thinner than the others, Belotero® is perfect to inject high into the skin without the risk of forming bumps and lumps under the skin. This is why Belotero® is a great starter option to smooth out the early signs of fine wrinkles around the mouth and lips where the skin is very thin. Dr. Jacono frequently uses Belotero® in combination with other dermal fillers to help create an overall balance and harmony to the face that looks younger and more rejuvenated.
Where can Belotero be used?
- Lips (Lip Augmentation) – Used to plump up the lips so they appear fuller with proper contour.
