Xeomin Long Island
What is Xeomin®?
Xeomin® is an injectable wrinkle treatment that is used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles such as frown lines at our office here in Long Island. Like Botox® and Dysport™, Xeomin® is also created using the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, or Botulinum Toxin A. All three injectables work the same way by blocking the nerve impulses in the targeted muscle in order to temporarily prevent certain facial expressions that cause dynamic wrinkles. The main difference between the three is their formulation. Xeomin®, which is made and distributed by Merz, is created through a unique process that isolates the component of the toxin molecule and removes the proteins that are not needed to perform the active role in the wrinkle treatment. Because of this, Xeomin® is considered a highly purified neurotoxin.
Just like the other neurotoxins, our Long Island Xeomin® treatment consists of a series of injections to very targeted muscle groups that create permanent wrinkles to areas such as the forehead (frown lines), between the eyebrows (Eleven’s), the corners of the eyes (crow’s feet), nasal squint lines, smile lines, lines around the neck, and in some cases for lifting up the eyebrow. Since each patient will have different results and reactions to Botox®, Dysport™, and Xeomin® injections in Long Island, Dr. Jacono will determine which injectable treatment will be right for you during your consultation. In many cases, Dr. Jacono may recommend a combination of treatments paired with dermal facial fillers which include fillers such as Restylane®, Juvederm®, and Voluma® to achieve the desired facial rejuvenation results.
What Makes Xeomin® Different?
When compared to other injectable wrinkle treatments, Xeomin® stands out from its competitors by not containing any additives. Because there are no additives, this could mean that there will be less risk of developing antibodies against Xeomin®. When the body creates antibodies in response to a foreign substance in the body, it breaks it down and causes it to be less effective. This should allow the smoothing of the skin and temporary elimination of wrinkles to last longer. In general, your results from Xeomin® in Long Island will last between 4 and 6 months.
Another difference is that Xeomin® does not require refrigeration for storage. This does not have any bearing on its effectiveness but it does allow for easier storage and distribution.
Who is a Good Candidate for Xeomin®?
As with any injectable wrinkle treatment such as Xeomin®, patients should be in overall good health and it is suitable for both men and women alike. Xeomin® is a good option for individuals who what to have an anti-aging treatment plan to help temporarily eliminate facial wrinkles and help them look younger and more rejuvenated. Pregnant and expecting mothers should not use any of the neurotoxin treatments.
